This book would be better if I was inclined to continuously shell out money for more books from the Pattern series. Rather than being a whole and complete book regarding procrastination, it seems to provide only piecemeal areas. First you discover your 'procrastination pattern' but it only covers some patterns in-depth, while others it merely names and then ignores. I assume you could find more information about those other pattern types from other books in the series. And most of the help simply involves working with your self-talk, which almost any behavior modification book can guide you in doing, not to mention several free resources available online. There is nothing which makes this "pattern technique" any more beneficial than any other technique or book.
If you want to learn how to change ANY problem behavior, including procrastination, I highly recommend the book Changing for Good: A Revolutionary Six-Stage Program for Overcoming Bad Habits and Moving Your Life Positively Forward.

Taking Action Working Through Procrastination and Achieving Your Goals edition by Jay Earley Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
This book has some great ideas about how to best attack and overcome procrastination. As humans we inevitably will procrastinate in doing something within our lives. This book takes that inevitable conclusion and puts practical is in front of the reader. The book reads more like a workbook, and I loved the sections where you could actually write in the book to work through issues that you may be having. The activities that the author has you working through make sense and compliment what the author is sharing in his text. I can honestly say that I left reading this book more informed about myself and know that you will too!
This was an introduction to Jay Earley's pattern system for me, and I found it very useful in understanding my paralyzing procrastination behavior. As I was working through the exercises I found it very liberating to have a better understanding of the motivations behind my procrastination (I always assumed it was mostly laziness). The book outlines not only approaches to understanding your procrastination behaviors, but also details an approach to reversing them. In the last chapter of the book he discusses another approach to therapy (really a compatible partner to the pattern system) called "internal family systems", and how this approach can bring you to a much more intimate understanding of your emotional connection to procrastination (and any other part of your personality). I strongly recommend following his advice on this and get not only this book, but another of his books called "self therapy" which walks you through the steps of doing this type of work on yourself.
This is a great book on how to effectively overcome procrastination. The author provides an easy to read and thorough understanding of what holds us back from taking action and how to overcome it resulting in a sense of ease with work. I found this book realistic and informative. What sets this material (and others in this series) apart from similar subject matter, is an online workbook that can be completed while reading through the book. The workbook includes questionnaires, meditations and content that complements the text. Using the online app I worked one example with a project I had not been looking forward to and had been putting off for quite some time. I was surprised how well the process worked and was able to complete the task in one sitting. Once I got started I felt an unusual sense of ease that spanned several hours of work and a sense of accomplishment when finished. I will definitely use this process again.
If you're interested in self-help and motivated to use the workbook I can highly recommend Taking Action and the other online resources that include a discussion forum. Its clear that the author is interested in making this valuable information affordable and available to the masses. Bravo! I'd also recommend Self-Therapy written by the author.
I found this book easy to read and follow. I do procrastinate and needed some help in that area. I read the book and put the principals into action and I can tell you that I finished this semester with a 4.0 with 4 classes. I was ahead in everyone of them and when I thought of doing something else I made sure my school work was caught up and even ahead.
The funny part was that I am an unorganized person and yet every other student commented about how together I was and even asked me for advice....ME? Well I enjoyed this book and can tell you that I could have done it alone...but found this book the push I needed.
I believe this book would be helpful for all of you. It is quick to read and easy to follow.
Great book for finding out about Patterns and Internal Family Systems concerning procrastination. It is a big help in self-exploration.
The e-book explains known causes and beliefs that may be causing one to procastinate, but no solutions are covered.
The e-book is very similar to other e-books of Jay Earley's series.
Was having difficulty with a specific procrastination issue. Partially completed "Self Therapy" [same author], and intend to continue this deeper look into IFS, but had wanted more immediate help with a gnarly procrastination conflict. After 2 months of inertia, I read “Taking action Working through procrastination ...,” made use of the supplemental workbook, and was pleased to get to the crux of, and work through my conflict.
